The Peter Figoski Scholarship Fund was created to help support the four daughters of Peter Figoski, one of New York’s police officers who was killed in the line of duty. The fund was created to honor and remember Peter for his selflessness in protecting the city of New York.

According to a CosmaLite article, “the ‘Biggest Turn-off”‘ dating survey revealed attributes that people find most appealing and least appealing in a romantic partner. When asked what they noticed first about potential partners, 62% of respondents said a person’s smile. Body type and eyes were tied at 12.5%, with fashion sense and complexion coming in at 6.3%.”

What does this mean for all of those single people out there? Take care of your teeth! While often times we don’t have control over our eyes or our complexion, we do have control over the health and beauty of our teeth.

Bad breath was another popular answer when asked about what attributes are considered turn-offs when looking for potential romantic partners. Regular brushing, flossing and using mouthwash should help to keep your breath fresh, but often times bad breath comes from a deeper problem that can only be remedied with restorative dentistry.

There are also many cosmetic procedures that can be done to improve your smile by straightening or whitening your teeth.

So take a good look in the mirror and make sure you are doing everything you can to put that best smile forward!

As a way to start the year off right, we have contributed to the Peter Figoski Scholarship Fund, which was created to support the family of a slain NYPD officer who died protecting this great city. The scholarship fund will help put Peter’s four daughters through school, and will serve as a way to honor and remember his selflessness and heroism.

The New York City Association of Hotel Concierges (NYCAHC) has nominated Dr. Jan Linhart for a 2011 Concierge Choice Award. Dr. Linhart is nominated in the category: Last Minute Services. He is one of only four nominees this year, and the nomination follows a 2010 win for best Emergency Dental Service/Dental Care.

The Concierge Choice Awards “recognize New York City institutions, businesses, and representatives that create superior experiences for our hotel guests,” as chosen by the members of the New York City Association of Hotel Concierges, who represent many of the city’s finest hotels. The criteria for these awards are based exclusively on the level of service provided by the nominee.

Regarding his nomination, Dr. Linhart states, “I feel honored to be nominated for this award for a second year in a row. Everyone in my office works very hard to ensure that our patients receive the best possible care, whether it is a last minute, emergency procedure or one that has been planned. It’s wonderful to have our commitment recognized by the association.”

In addition to his 2010 Concierge Choice Award, Dr. Linhart has been previously honored for both the quality of his dental care and for his philanthropism. In 2009 New York University inducted him and his wife into the Sir Harold Acton Society, after Dr. Linhart established the NYUCD Continuing Dental Education Program there. Dr. Linhart was also included in the 2010 Edition of Who’s Who Among Business and Professional Achievers, and is the Official Dentist of the Miss Universe Organization.

The winners of the 2011 Concierge Choice Awards will be announced at a charity event on Monday, September 26, 2011. Last year the event raised $8000 for charity.
